The beginning of the new year always starts on January 1st, no matter what year or how old we are.
How is your year 2015 is kicking off so far? Are your new year’s resolution is going well as you planned in the end of last year?
I’ve also set my goals for 2015 and bought a new planner to keep me motivated. However, I cannot believe it’s already the end of January and I haven’t got the full vibe of new year’s spirit just yet.
If you are also like me so far, there is another New Year’s Day coming up to revive the new year spirit.
Are you familiar with Chinese New Year?
How about Lunar New Year?
We’re seeing more of Chinese New Year Celebration and events around the city. Chinese New Year is obviously the ethnic coined term since it’s a “Chinese” national holiday, to celebrate at the turn of the Chinese calendar, or lunar calendar.
However, this celebration is not only associated with China, but celebrated throughout the East and Central Asia continent including Japanese, Korean, Mongolian, Tibetan and Vietnamese. They are usually occurring in late January or February, depends on the cycles of the moon.
Each Asian country celebrate this Lunar New Year as the most significant national holiday, in various respects.
For this Lunar New Year,
Diversus Media Group along with our partnering associations: Kingsway District Association, North Edmonton Business Association, West Business Association, and South Edmonton Business Association are hosting 2015 Lunar New Year Gala. This event will be an addition to many other Edmonton Lunar New Year event, but it’s the very first time a group of non-Asian specific organization work together to create fascinating cultural event.
Lunar New Year, “Welcoming the Sheep, a Gateway to a LNY Celebration!” is the theme of this year’s event and we encourage businesses in Edmonton to support cultural diversity from all four corners of the city.
There’s going to be a Market Place that is open to public, culturally diverse food samples and of course, impressive line up of entertainment has been scheduled.
If you like to participate in this event, please contact us.
We will definitely keep you posted for more detail info about this event on our blog. Stay tuned!
